The title of the show is “The River and the Sea” and the abstractions of this theme suggest the water colors of John Marin carried to the next degree… Blue and green patches suggest the flow of water. Loose black line interrupts that flow, just as it is interrupted by the breaking of a wave, or the force of an undertow.
