Professional photographer Carol Harrison had personal and professional associations with many of the Jefferson Place Gallery artists.  She received a Bachelor of Science from the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Maryland, where she studied with John Gossage, Sam Gilliam and Claudia DeMonte, and specialized in black-and white portrait photography.

Her photographs are included in the collections of the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, Richmond, Virginia; the Corcoran Gallery of Art; The Mississippi Museum of Art; Holocaust Museum, Washington, DC; the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, Louisiana; the Museum of Polish History, Warsaw, Poland; and other museums, as well as in private collections. Carol Harrison’s work has been featured in numerous museum and gallery exhibitions, including one-person shows at the Kathleen Ewing Gallery, Washington, DC; the Reynolds/Minor Gallery, Richmond, VA; other museums, galleries, and exhibition spaces, in the United States and abroad.

She has taught photography at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Artist Workshop Program; the Bullis School, Potomac, Maryland; The Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Newport News, VA; The Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts, Fredericksburg, VA; and other institutions.

The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C., has selected many of Ms. Harrison’s portraits of artists to use in their museum publications, and The Katzen Arts Center, the American University Museum, has prominently included Ms. Harrison’s portraits in their artist catalogues and online. Ms. Harrison’s portraits have also been frequently published in The Washington Post, and The Washingtonian Magazine, and others.
